Geography

Egypt is located in the extreme northeast of the African continent while in Asia, it is located on the Sinai Peninsula. It has coasts on the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea. It is bordered to the west by Libya, to the south by Sudan, to the north by the Mediterranean and to the east by the State of Palestine, Israel and the Red Sea. Its territory covers 1 001 450 km² in area. The vast majority of it is occupied by the Sahara desert, and crossed by a single river, the Nile, which has been the main source of wealth and has allowed the development of various cultures throughout the ancient history of Egypt.
